Alabaster in
Sri Lanka
Following the devastation of Cyclone Ditwah, Alabaster International launched a rapid mobile health response to reach flood-isolated communities cut off from clinics and safe water. In partnership with trusted Sri Lankan organizations Live Love & Give and Global Unites, and with critical medical support through a new partnership with Direct Relief, Alabaster delivered clinician-led care directly to vulnerable households across the Northwest, North, and North Central regions of the country.

Our response revealed a critical gap in long-term care for Sri Lanka’s aging population: 9% of elderly individuals screened were found to be nutritionally at risk, highlighting the urgent need for integrated medical and nutrition services. Building on these findings, Alabaster is now working with local partners and Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Health to develop a long-term Mobile ElderCare Initiative for vulnerable seniors, especially indigenous women, living in remote regions.
This work marks the beginning of Alabaster’s long-term commitment to Sri Lanka — expanding our global mission to ensure that marginalized communities, especially elderly populations and women-led households, are not forgotten in times of crisis or recovery
