Healthcare Delivery in Isolated Regions
Isolated communities often lack access to basic needs, most notably health care. Clinics and hospitals are too far away, are not stocked with basic medications or don’t have trained staff. Alabaster began as a mobile clinic, with a vision to bring care to those who couldn’t get to it themselves. Today, we partner with communities to address acute health needs through mobile clinics, and create sustained health and wellness through vaccine drives, health education and advocating for resources, including bricks and mortar clinics and dedicated healthcare providers.
- Preventative Health Services: Vitamin A, de-worming, malnutrition assessment and treatment, immunizations, female hygiene
- Maternal Medicine: Prenatal and Antenatal care for pregnant women
Female Entrepreneurship
Women and youth are the future of every community. While they may not hold official positions of power or authority, their wellbeing determines how families will be nurtured and communities will be sustained. Through small-scale economic empowerment and leadership training, we invest in promising opportunities for growing the power, knowledge and resilience of women and youth in the communities where we work.

Nutrition & Food Security
Our goal is to see hope restored to individuals and communities so they can flourish. After spending time in a community and learning from its leaders, we partner with them to identify projects and initiatives that will lead to long-term sustainability and encourage local ownership from the start. We believe that by
encouraging inter-dependence, growing skills, and fostering self-determination, communities will re-envision what is possible and find creative and resourceful ways to achieve it.

Roots & Wings
Throughout our work with rural women, one truth has remained constant: when a mother asks for help, it is rarely for herself—it is for her children. Time and again, this has led us to stand alongside women not only as partners in empowerment but as advocates for their children’s futures. In response, we’ve provided students with essential school supplies, opened a community library, and offered leadership training.
These efforts have evolved into a full-scale initiative - Roots & Wings - developed in collaboration with rural women across East Africa.
Roots & Wings is a children and youth empowerment program focused on those growing up in conflict zones. It offers young people both roots through education and service and wings through dreaming and ambition.
The program is built on four core pillars:
- Establishing debate clubs to cultivate leadership
- Launching youth-led tree planting initiatives
- Providing essential school supplies
- Creating reading societies and libraries
Through Roots & Wings, we aim to raise the next generation of leaders who are not only educated but also equipped to foster peace in communities affected by war.
