Healthcare Delivery in Isolated Regions
Isolated communities often lack access to basic needs, most notably health care. Clinics and hospitals are too far away, are not stocked with basic medications or don’t have trained staff. Alabaster began as a mobile clinic, with a vision to bring care to those who couldn’t get to it themselves. Today, we partner with communities to address acute health needs through mobile clinics, and create sustained health and wellness through vaccine drives, health education and advocating for resources, including bricks and mortar clinics and dedicated healthcare providers.
- Preventative Health Services: Vitamin A, de-worming, malnutrition assessment and treatment, immunizations, female hygiene

Nutrition & Food Security
We partner with women smallholder farmers to fight hunger and restore ecosystems through indigenous crops and regenerative agriculture. Our approach is simple but transformative: we begin with what’s already there — local knowledge, traditional farming practices, and nature-based solutions that nurture biodiversity, strengthen climate resilience, and conserve the environment.
At the heart of our food security work is Enset, Ethiopia’s extraordinary “tree against hunger.” This perennial, drought-tolerant crop sustains more than 20 million people in southern Ethiopia. In a historic milestone, Alabaster International brokered the first-ever agreement between Ethiopia and Kenya to share Enset across borders, opening the door for a new regional food security breakthrough.

- Enset Food Security Initiative - Our flagship Enset program features cross-border collaborations between stakeholders in Ethiopia and Kenya, bringing together tactical Enset experts, academic researchers, local farmers, and humanitarian organizations to deepen our understanding of Enset's impact on food and climate. Female Entrepreneurship
Women and youth are the future of every community. While they may not hold official positions of power or authority, their wellbeing determines how families will be nurtured and communities will be sustained. Through small-scale economic empowerment and leadership training, we invest in promising opportunities for growing the power, knowledge and resilience of women and youth in the communities where we work.
Empowering Children & Youth
Throughout our work with rural women, one truth has remained constant: when a mother asks for help, it is rarely for herself—it is for her children. Time and again, this has led us to stand alongside women not only as partners in empowerment but as advocates for their children’s futures. In response, we’ve provided students with essential school supplies, opened a community library, and offered leadership training.
These efforts have evolved into a full-scale initiative - Roots & Wings
