Alabaster International joins global leaders to address hunger and malnutrition at a pivotal global conference

LOS ANGELES (Tuesday, November 5, 2024) – Alabaster International, a pioneering non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing health and wellness for Indigenous women in East Africa, announces its participation in the World Without Hunger Conference, taking place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from November 5-7, 2024. This conference, organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in collaboration with the African Union Commission (AUC) and the Government of Ethiopia, represents a collective effort to address one of humanity’s most urgent challenges: hunger and malnutrition.

“We are honored to be part of the World Without Hunger Conference,” said Shannon Fernando-Rubera, Founder and CEO of Alabaster International. “This opportunity allows us to collaborate with influential leaders and share our experiences and solutions for promoting food security in East Africa. Together with like-minded organizations and leaders, we can develop sustainable pathways to create resilient communities and support Indigenous women in their vital role within food systems.”

As an attendee, Alabaster International will engage in the conference’s high-level discussions on agribusiness, climate resilience, and fair trade. Through technical sessions, field visits, and an investment forum, the organization will highlight its work in promoting the cultivation of Enset—a drought-tolerant crop that enhances food security and environmental sustainability across East African communities.
